Dental Diagnostics

It is not often that one thinks of the sort of diagnostic tools that a dental practice uses when choosing a family dentist, but we at Stratford Dental think it’s an important consideration. Diagnosis and early detection is the foundation for proper care. Without the proper diagnostic tools, such problems as “cracks in the foundation” go undetected, and hinder the doctor’s ability to effectively provide the optimum oral health care.

Dr. Evans will give you a complete dental examination to identify all active factors that are capable of causing and/or adding to the deterioration of your oral health or function. After a close look at your current dental routines, health history, soft tissue examination, periodontal examination, examination of your teeth, and x-rays, we will develop a comprehensive treatment plan aimed at optimum health of your teeth, gums, supporting bone structure and aesthetics. Our ultimate goal is the optimum oral health and the best smile possible for you and your loved ones.  Dr. Evans will discuss treatment options and priorities so that the greatest concerns are addressed first in order to minimize treatment and expense.

Our practice uses a variety of detection methods to detect all oral related diseases. From visual inspections to the latest technologies like the Identifi oral cancer detection system…cavities, gum disease and oral cancer can be detected and treated early.

We also use digital x-rays instead of the conventional dental x-rays. Digital x-rays are computer generated images. They offer more precision when it comes to diagnosis as we can view the images on a computer monitor, instead of holding a small x-ray up to the light.  These images also require much less radiation than conventional dental x-rays.  This means less radiation exposure and a safer experience for our patients.

Intraoral Camera

Dr Evans will also use an intraoral camera to take pictures of your individual teeth. This small digital camera will allow him to immediately view the images on the computer, better diagnose and allow you to view your teeth to see and better understand his recommendations.

Galileos

The Galileos  Cone Beam CT is a state of the art diagnostic tool.  It produces three dimensional images that allow us to detect conditions, including infections, long before traditional dental x-rays, and many other conditions that are not visible on dental x-rays.  Early detection allows for better treatment, avoiding unnecessary procedures and complications.  The Galileos images of the bone can be correlated with Cerec images of the teeth to allow for more predictable treatment planning for implant placement.  This can lead to a simpler placement procedure, faster recovery, and a better restoration.
